3 MEDALS FOR GB SNOWSPORT

Skiers Izzy Atkin and Jasmin Taylor win silver & snowboarder Katie Ormerod continues her impressive comeback with her third World Cup podium in a row. She’s top of the slopestyle standings.

It’s been a good few days for GB snowsport athletes.

Pyeongchang Olympic bronze medallist Izzy Atkin was second in the ski slopestyle at Mammoth Mountain in California.

The Utah-based athlete finished behind Sarah Hoefflin of Switzerland and ahead of Maggie Voisin of the USA, who was third.

It’s Atkin’s second World Cup podium of the season after her third place in the Atlanta Big Air in December.

In the same event there was another strong performance from 24-year-old Katie Summerhayes, who finished 6th.

It was only her second World Cup event since returning from a serious knee injury which has kept her out of competition since the 2018 Winter Olympics two years ago.

In the snowboard slopestyle at Mammoth, GB’s other injury comeback kid, Katie Ormerod, made the podium again.

22-year-old Ormerod was third behind the USA’s Jamie Anderson and Laurie Blouin of Canada.

The result means Ormerod hangs on to the yellow bib as the current leader in the World Cup women’s snowboard slopestyle standings.

Ormerod has been on the podium in all three World Cup slopestyle competitions held so far this year.

Her most recent bronze follows her bronze in Laax, Switzerland…

And a silver in Seiser Alm, Italy, which we covered in the article below…

Jasmin Taylor continues to show she is in fine form.

The 26-year-old telemark skier has made the World Cup podium for the second time this year.

She won silver in the classic race in Samöens in France.

Taylor became the most successful British skier of all time last month with her 30th World Cup podium.
