MESSYWEEKEND

We have all had them, but have you ever had a messy weekend on your face while skiing or snowboarding?

‘MessyWeekend’ is a new range of googles that we are trying out this winter.

The goggles come from a Danish company founded in 2018.

They come with the usual marketing guff:

All we care about is how they work out on the slopes, in the snow.

And they do.

Our editor, James Cove, has been wearing them all season – in all conditions.

From Austria to Utah and other adventures.

“It’s rare that I don’t find fault, or at least room for improvement, in the ski products I test.

“These googles are an exception,” said James.

“The lenses are great, they fit snugly whether worn with a helmet or hat and, so far, have proved scratch-resistant.”

“Most importantly the lenses are relatively easy to change for sunny conditions or heavy snow.”

We advise you do them at a restaurant or in an enclosed lift.

Environmental credentials

Like many companies MessyWeekend claims some environmental credentials.

Doesn’t everyone now days?

“We care about the environment and therefore cooperate with the NGO ProArtso, and together we have founded the project “Origines”.

“Every sale we generate donates to that project and helps to clean up 2kg of plastic from the Pacific Ocean per product sold.”

And we tested them last week in Zermatt in snow, sun and high winds.

We can report they are wind proof – when down.

Seems like the wind has picked up in the Alps. Our editor, James Cove, is in Zermatt.See here for more on the weather: https://www.planetski.eu/2020/02/24/major-snowstorm-set-to-hit-the-alps/

And James bumped into one of his old friends in Zermatt as he toured the slopes.

Step forward Paul from Summit Ski School, who also wears MW goggles.

And Yes, the pair have had several messy weekends in Zermatt together over the years.

More than they can count.

“They do the job for me,” said Paul.

So, there you have it – double endorsement.

Long live MessyWeekend and messy weekends.
