New Ski & Snowboard Show for UK

It will take place at the NEC in Birmingham in October 2021.  It comes as The Telegraph has axed its show in London.  PlanetSKI looks at what may be on offer and examines its chance of success. UPDATED

It will take place over the weekend of 23rd and 24th October 2021 and aims to have 140 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors.

The National Snow Show is being run by Raccoon Events.

The Show aims to be a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts providing a comprehensive retail experience, a first-class speaker line-up and a plethora of impressive interactive features under one roof.

It will occupy 8,000 sqm and will host some of the snow scene’s biggest names including Kate Ormerod, Billy Morgan, Jamie Nicholls, Ed Drake and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

They will lead a packed schedule of inspirational and educational talks on the Snow Stage and workshops in the Snow Skills Cabin.

It aims to provide new and experienced skiers and snowboarders with information and advice to get started or advance in their chosen winter sport.

“The aim of the show is to unite the UK snowsport scene by bringing together retail, destinations and the community to inspire participation,” said Stephen Morgan, the Managing Director of the Active Division at Raccoon Events.

“The mountains are ours, we need to protect them and make them as accessible as possible for all to enjoy.

“This thinking is the basis for the strategic pillars the event’s foundations are built on; sustainability, participation and retail.”

It already has a number of key partners and supporters lined up for the event including; Mountain Trade Network, Ski Club GB, GB Snowsport, Eurosport, Graystone Action Sports, Snowsport England, Snow-Camp and POW.

PlanetSKI has had a full rundown of what will be on offer as Stephen Morgan met up with the PlanetSKI editor, James Cove, to discuss the project.

Stephen was Event Director at the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival in 2019.

“I was slightly sceptical on first hearing of the project as UK ski shows and numbers have been dwindling for some years, but Stephen and Raccoon Events come with experience, credibility and most importantly passion,” said James.

“Turning any idea into a reality is a huge undertaking and here at PlanetSKI we will be watching closely but it seems well thought out, costed correctly and it is exciting to see a national show back at the NEC which was always a great venue for a ski and snowboarding show.”

“It was a great shame when the London Show bit the dust and The National Snow Show wants to fill that void.”

PlanetSKI broke the news of the demise of the  London Show back in early March.
