Ski Solutions Announce Plans For Winter

The long-standing ski specialists and tailor-made tour operator have self-drive, self-catered holidays to the Alps and eco-friendly trips among their offerings for the coming season in its new online brochure.

The details are in their new interactive digital guide launched today (Monday 7th September) in place of a printed version.

There’s information about what skiing in a Covid-19 world will be like, tips for staying safe, and news of the protection customers will have if their holidays are disrupted by the virus.

The company’s website also has a dedicated coronavirus page, which is being continually updated.

“Our experience over the years has seen us deal with everything – from ash clouds to avalanches and most recently, a ski season cut short by Coronavirus,” the brochure states.

“Whatever the world throws our way, when you book a tailor-made holiday with us, we’ll look after you from beginning to end. If travel advice changes, we fix it.”

In their 35th year of operations Ski Solutions are introducing a flexible booking policy for tailor-made hotel holidays.

It includes low deposits where available and no amendment fees for changes made up to 12 weeks before departure.

But what if holiday is cancelled or has to be abandoned?

If the Foreign Office advises against all but essential travel due to the Coronavirus, Ski Solutions say they will contact customers as soon as possible to discuss re-booking to another date or destination or to discuss refund options.

The online brochure sets out what a ski and snowboard holiday will look like in 2020-21.

As we have reported here on PlanetSKI, it’s clear that it will be different to any other season before it.

Ski Solutions have looked at how resorts have been able to operate during the summer to get an idea of what winter is likely to bring:

  • Social distancing encouraged
  • Face coverings in the lift queues – ski buffs will be acceptable
  • Reduced capacity on chairs and gondolas
  • Reduced capacity in group ski lessons
  • More regular and intensive cleaning procedures

Stay In Your Own Bubble

The repercussions of the pandemic are bound to lead to more of us choosing to drive to the Alps and stay in apartments within our own ‘social bubble’ of family or friends.

A good way of doing that is to drive to the mountains.

How To Drive To The Alps

Not surprisingly, Ski Solutions have self-drive and self-catering options.

“This budget-friendly option is popular with families and groups of friends, allowing flexibility not only on the journey, but also on arrival with the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and to discover neighbouring ski resorts too,” they say.

The self-drive holiday packages come with self-catered apartments or chalets and can include Eurotunnel or ferry bookings.

Ski Solutions offers a seven night break to five-star self-catered Resident Daria I-Nor in Alpe d’Huez from £585pp, including a self-drive package with Eurotunnel for four people in one standard sized car.
