The Snow in Pictures…

“Starting to look wintery above the clouds this morning,” said Paul Hammett from Zermatt as he posted a picture of his favourite mountain.

We’ve known him for donkey’s years and our editor, James Cove, had the pleasure of bumping into him in Zermatt last winter.

They even had the same make of goggles.

PlanetSKI reader, Holger Gassler, lives in Innsbruck in the Tirol and has already sent us a few pictures that we have posted lower down this page.

He sent us this image on Sunday morning.

And then took his snowshoes up to the snow in the ski area of Nordkette above the city.

Another of our great friends from the Tirol is Wilma Himmelfreundpointner who she lives in St Anton.

And here are some of her pictures from the resort as the snow tumbles down.

Another great friend of ours is Nico de Rohan… THE legendary Verbier DJ.

We use the word ‘legendary’ rarely, but Mr De Rohan jnr is certainly worthy.

He spins the tunes at many of the resort’s premier events and has regular spots at our preferred apres ski Verbier watering hole, Le Rouge.

And elsewhere.

“Winter is back! For the moment, at least…” said Nico as he posted the image below.

Kevin Young from Elan Skis (one of our favourite brands) set off for his usual dog walk in the French Alps.

Though not everyone is pleased to see the September snow.

Lindsey Cairns lives in the tiny village of Pillersee in the Tirol in Austria.

“Now that’s just rude. It’s only September, it needs to bugger off and come back in December.”

She runs Ebike-Europe so you can probably guess what she would rather be doing.

Something to do with a saddle.

Preferably in the sun.

Elsewhere in the Tirol, Holger Gassler (who we heard from earlier) was up in the mountains above Innsbruck as the snow fell (to the Höttinger Alm to be precise) where he tells as that 47cm of snow has fallen.

And then on Sunday in his (and ours) beloved city of Innsbruck…

And we return to Verbier.

“What a day here in Verbier. Can’t wait for the first turns of season 20/21” said some ski instructor who goes by the name of Warren Smith.

Back in the Tirol the ski instructor Toby Fishel has posted these images from his home in the resort of Seefeld.

“The views today are amazing winter is on it’s way and I can not wait now,” said Toby.

And lets not forget Italy.

The Aosta Valley did not see the big falls of elsewhere, but there’s been a dusting at altitude in Pila and Phil Brown, from Impulse Racing, has posted this one.
