Indoor & Outdoor Slopes in England Reopen Today

All five indoor slopes in the England are set to open as the country comes out of lockdown and goes into the Tier System. The outdoor ones can open too.

Outdoor Snowsport will be able to resume across all tiers.

All indoor centres can open whatever Tier Level they are in, however travel maybe restricted depending on whether the centres are in Level Two or Three, and there are other restrictions.

There are no indoor snow centres in England in Level One.

No specific mention is made of indoor snow centres in the government’s tier rules, but in Level Three gyms can open and indoor leisure is permitted as long as guests do not mix with other households.

The snow centres have been defined as indoor leisure.

The government advice within Tier Three states “you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible.”

Snowsport England issued this advice on all snowsports in England last week:

– In Tier 2 areas, indoor sport can take place within household bubbles. Outdoor snowsport will be able to continue in groups of more than one household  providing it’s in line with Covid secure environments.

– In Tier 3 areas, indoor sport (including snowsport) as well as exercise classes will be restricted to within your household only. Outdoor snowsport will be able to continue in groups of more than one household  providing it’s in line with Covid secure environments.

Organised activities for U18s and disabled people will be able to continue indoors across all tiers.

“As soon as we have full confirmed guidance, we will publish an updated tier table showing what activity can take place from Wednesday 2nd December onwards, together with updated full guidance documents for facilities, clubs, coaches and participants,” said Snowsport England.

“I am delighted to announce we will be re-opening at 10am on Wednesday 2nd December, said the MD of the Snow Centre, Ian Brown.

“While closed we have taken the opportunity to install new skis, snowboards, and boots for this winter season, and we have also updated our website for ordering your refreshments in The Lodge.

“Our team are refreshed and are raring to go again.

“We are aware there are updated guidelines for the tier system and we will continue to monitor this.”

The Chill Factore has a similar message.

“We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the slopes,” it said in a statement.

“While we’ve been closed our team have been busy keeping the slope in pristine condition and preparing an updated roster of adult and kids lessons for you to enjoy.

“Please rest assured the same rigorous cleaning and social distancing measures will continue to be in force to keep the centre COVID secure and our guests and team safe.”

“Following the Governments latest announcement, the SnowDome will re-open on 3rd December under a Tier 3 status.

“We are able to offer indoor sport based activities such as skiing, snowboarding, swimming and the SnowDome Fitness members gym.”

Other activities will not take place.
