Bronze Medal For GB Skier

Andrew Young is on the podium in Davos Switzerland in a World Cup cross country sprint race.

“Medal for Team GB and Andrew Young today!” said British Nordic.

“Woohoo! So good to see you back on the podium with a bronze medal around your neck.”

The race was won by the Italian, Federico Pellegrino, with Alexander Bolshunov from Russia in second place.

It was expected that some fresh faces could make the podium after the recent withdrawals of skiers from Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Athletes from these countries, three of the best cross-country skiing nations in the world, are missing all December fixtures from the World Cup calendar due to fears surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It is the third World Cup podium of 28-year-old Andrew Young’s career.

In April 2019 in Quebec he came 4th on the day in the 15km pursuit at the World Cup Finals.

There was an error in the scoring and the was promoted to 3rd place on appeal.

The GB Nordic Team has been putting in some improved performances in recent years.

Andrew Musgrave was unlucky to miss out on a podium spot in the 30km skiathlon at PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, eventually finishing 7th.
