Snow In The Alps

It’s looking like a cold and wintry end to 2020 with snow falling in many parts of the Alps. Some areas will see more as 2021 approaches.

It’s been the year that most of us would prefer to forget, but as it prepares to bow out we thought we’d cheer you up with some happy scenes from across the Alps.

There’s been heavy snow for some regions in the past 24 hours or so, with parts of Austria – Carinthia and the East Tirol – as well as the Dolomites in Italy getting the lion’s share.

Some resorts are reporting falls of 30 or 40cm overnight on Monday.

“The weather in the Alps will remain cold over the next few days with more snow in places,” Fraser Wilkin of Weather To Ski, said on Tuesday.

“Most of the snow will initially fall in the western Alps (ie France), albeit not in large quantities.

“Later in the week and over the weekend it looks like the southern Alps will be most favoured.

“Over the next few days, the northern Austrian Alps (eg Salzburg region) will again miss most of the snow.”

There’ve been falls in the Pyrenees too.

We’d rather out on the slopes, of course, but it’s great to see anyway.

And for those of you lucky to be in the mountains, enjoy.

We’re not jealous.  Much.
